Little Moments of Poetry

Alain de Botton once said that one of our problems is the optimism, because it makes us think that hapiness is like a country we have to discover and live in forever (not really forever, but for a really long time) when, actually, all we can truly achieve is a bunch of "little moments of poetry" (I just loved this expression). I couldn't agree more.

I was thinking about how we live our ordinary lives everyday without minding if there's a reason or a final purpose for everything, and it reminded me of Alain's speach. Maybe the secret of life is discovering what makes us have these little moments of poetry and, once we discover their cause, we achieve our goal. Maybe this is hapiness: the discovery of what makes you have moments of poetry and live life causing and enjoying them. Maybe this is the key, maybe this is the purpose of life.

One can think "well, but it looks like a pretty easy goal to achieve", but I don't think so, because you have to do so - the discovery - while living a bunch of difficult moments that can ruin your poetry with the blink of an eye.

Well, I don't know, but from now on, instead of asking "are you happy?", I'm going to ask "are you having a little moment of poetry?". Haha.
